The awards count for The Sower of Black Field is now in double-digit territory. The novel has won ten top awards!
Last week The Sower won top prize for religious fiction in the 2025 Indie Reader Discovery Awards. I have to tip my hat to the organizers of this contest. They go above and beyond to help indie authors promote their work. The IRDA organizers sent a press release with all books that won in their categories—and this communication reached 1.3 million people. That’s great exposure, especially for a debut author like yours truly!
They also sent questionnaires to authors, asking some thought-provoking and entertaining questions. I really enjoyed filling this one out. I figure that folks who follow my work might like to have a look! A few of the most interesting questions they asked:
- What’s the most distinctive thing about the main character? Who-real or fictional-would you say the character reminds you of?
- If they made your book into a movie, who would you like to see play the main character(s)?
- Which writer, living or dead, do you most admire?
- What’s the best and the hardest part of being an indie?
